Gananoque man sentenced for 2024 arson involving homemade incendiary devices

A 30-year-old Gananoque resident has been sentenced after being convicted in connection with an arson that damaged property in late 2024.
Gananoque police and fire crews responded to a report of a fire in a yard beside a residence at about 2:45 a.m. on Dec. 29, 2024.
An investigation determined the fire had been intentionally set using homemade incendiary devices, causing property damage.
The following day, police arrested a then-28-year-old Gananoque resident, who was charged with:
- Possession of incendiary material
- Arson causing damage to property
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Police say that on July 8, 2026, the now-30-year-old was convicted of both offences.
Police did not name the individual.
The court imposed a two-year conditional sentence order, followed by three years of probation. The sentence also includes a weapons prohibition, and the offender was ordered to pay $8,115.36 in restitution.
