Major infrastructure project to close Bartholomew Street in Brockville until late October

Submitted by City of Brockville

A major underground infrastructure project will officially be underway next week on Bartholomew Street, bringing with it a full road closure and several months of construction.

According to a release issued by the City of Brockville on Friday, July 31, 2026, work will begin on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 on Bartholomew Street between King Street and James Street. The project is needed to replace aging underground services and will include a complete replacement of the street’s water, sanitary and storm sewer mains, along with service connections to the property line.

As a result, Bartholomew Street will be fully closed to traffic throughout the entire project, with the closure taking effect next week and expected to continue through to the end of October.

Residents living on Bartholomew Street will temporarily lose access to their driveways and will be required to park on nearby side streets. The city stressed that affected vehicles will have to display temporary parking passes on their dashboards.

City officials also noted that motorists should expect heavier traffic and increased on-street parking on surrounding residential streets as construction progresses as well as large construction equipment and trucks will operating in the area throughout the duration of the project.

The city said updates on the reconstruction project like traffic impact and road closures will be provided on the Municipal511 website update as work continues.
