Human remains identified as missing Montague Township man last seen in 2018

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have confirmed that a second set of human remains found on a rural property northeast of Smiths Falls belong to a Montague Township man who disappeared more than eight years ago.
In an update released on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, OPP officials say the remains of Robert Lambert, 75, were located on July 20, 2026, on a property on Kelly Jordan Road. A subsequent post-mortem examination confirmed the identity of the remains.
Lambert was reported missing to the Lanark County OPP on Nov. 30, 2018, after he was last seen in early July of that year, according to the release.
Police note that this discovery marks the second time human remains have been found on that specific property.
As previously reported, OPP officers executed a search warrant in October 2025 at the Kelly Jordan Road property. There, they located the remains of Robbie Thomson, who had been reported missing in October 2023. Four people have since been arrested and charged in connection with Thomson’s death.
Detective Inspector Marty McConnell of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch said identifying Lambert’s remains is an important step for his family and the community.
“Locating Robert Lambert brings us one step closer to providing answers to a family that has waited eight years,” McConnell said in a statement. “Our focus remains on following the evidence and conducting a thorough investigation. While we understand the community’s desire for answers, it is too early to speculate, and not all questions can be answered at this time.”
The investigation into Lambert’s death remains active and is being led by the Lanark County OPP under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service and several specialized OPP units.
Police noted that residents of Kelly Jordan Road can expect to see an increased police presence as investigators remain at the scene.
