Brockville residents and visitors are being encouraged to plan ahead this weekend as several major events in the downtown core will bring road closures, increased pedestrian traffic and temporary changes to waterfront access throughout the city.

In a notice published on Friday, August 7, 2026, the city provided information about the return of the annual Ribfest event this weekend, bringing food vendors and live entertainment to Brockville’s waterfront. To accommodate the event, Water Street West between Kincaid Street and Home Street will remain closed until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9.

City officials are expecting increased pedestrian flow around the waterfront and downtown core throughout the festival, adding that boaters should also be prepared for temporary restrictions on Saturday, Aug. 8, when the Brockville Harbour serves as a lunch stop for the Poker Run.

The harbour will reportedly be closed to vessel traffic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., meaning no boats will be permitted to enter or leave during that time frame. Boaters planning to be on the water are advised to depart the harbour before 10 a.m. and schedule their return after the closure ends, city officials detailed.

The weekend festivities don’t stop there. On Sunday, Aug. 9, the Somersault Triathlon will see athletes competing on Brockville streets, trails and waterfront routes, resulting in the following road closures.

6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

â€¢    Water Street East (Ford Street to Park Street)

â€¢    Ford Street (King Street East to Water Street East)

8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

â€¢    King Street (North Augusta Road to Park Street)

9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

â€¢    Brockville Railway Tunnel – closure will accommodate the running portion of the event.

The City is encouraging motorists to allow for extra travel time, follow posted detours and directions from event staff, consider alternate routes where possible and remain alert as there will be increased pedestrian activity throughout the downtown and waterfront areas this weekend.
