Construction is set to begin next week on the City of Brockville’s long-awaited John Taylor Park Development Project, bringing a series of improvements to a key section of the Brock Trail while honouring one of the trail’s longtime champions.

In a release issued on Friday, August 7, 2026, the City announced that Kehoe Construction will begin work on Monday Aug.10 at the park space located along the Brock Trail near St. Paul Street.

According to the city, the project includes new seating areas, landscaping, upgraded lighting, new signage and other decorative features. A commemorative plaque will also be installed recognizing the legacy of John Taylor, a longtime advocate for the Brock Trail and former chair of the Brock Trail Committee.

The project is intended to transform the existing green space into a “welcoming public destination that celebrates both Brockville’s natural and historical features” while recognizing Taylor’s contributions to the development and promotion of the city’s beloved trail system, city officials describe.

To accommodate construction, a section of the Brock Trail between St. Paul Street and Henry Street will be temporarily closed beginning Aug. 10.

Trail users are asked to follow a detour along Water Street West around the closed section until access can be safely restored.

The City says updates, project renderings and additional information will be made available as construction progresses. For full project details, planned park improvements, renderings, and updates, visit the project page.
