The City of Brockville is continuing its city-wide watermain flushing program, with crews now working in the city’s north end as part of their routine annual maintenance.

The seasonal program, which began April 1, 2026 and runs through September, is carried out weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

According to an update provided by the City of Brockville on Friday, August 21, 2026, annual watermain flushing is necessary to remove sediment and mineral deposits from water pipes, helps verify the proper operation of fire hydrants for fire protection and improves the overall efficiency of the city’s water distribution system.

City officials say crews are currently flushing watermains in the area bounded by Laurier Boulevard, Windsor Drive, Parkedale Avenue and Stewart Boulevard.

While work is underway, residents in affected neighbourhoods may notice temporary changes to their water service, including cloudy or rusty-looking water and minor fluctuations in water pressure. The City also noted that this discolouration is caused by sediment being stirred up during the flushing process and does not pose a health risk.

Residents are be advised to check that their cold water runs clear before doing laundry or operating dishwashers. If discoloured water is present, the City recommends running a cold water tap for five to 10 minutes, or until the water clears.

For questions or concerns, residents can contact the City of Brockville Water Systems Department.
