The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands committee of the whole will hear from residents seeking lower speed limits on three township roads when council meets on Tuesday.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Lansdowne council chambers.

Two separate delegations are on the agenda seeking reductions to posted speed limits.

Bruce Bowes, representing the Landon Bay East Property Owners Association, will ask council to reduce the speed limit on Tumbledown Road and Landsakes Road from 50 km/h to 40 km/h.

Stephanie Wisniewski and Giselle MacNeil will also appear before council to request a more significant reduction on Chisamore Point Road, asking that the posted limit be lowered from 50 km/h to 25 km/h.

The requests will give council an opportunity to consider residents’ concerns about traffic speeds and road safety, as well as whether lower posted limits are appropriate for the roads in question.

Council will also consider a request from Cross Cemetery for up to $10,000 toward construction of a concrete pathway leading to the cemetery entrance.

The funding request is tied to proposed support through the township’s Cemetery Grant Fund and Community Improvement Plan.

Also on the agenda is a proposed proclamation of Sept. 21 to 27 as Rail Safety Week in the township.

Council will receive an update concerning the 2026 municipal and school board election as preparations continue for the upcoming vote.
