A 40-year-old Leeds and the Thousand Islands resident has been charged with indignity to a dead body as part of an ongoing homicide investigation in Augusta Township.

Grenville County OPP say officers were called to a residence on County Road 26 shortly before 3:30 p.m. on July 8, where one person was found deceased.

Officers later deemed the death a homicide.

On Monday, Sept. 14, police arrested Alison Doherty, 40, of the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands, according to a Tuesday, Sept. 15 media release. She has been charged with indignity to a dead body.

This charge has not been proven in court.

Doherty remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

“A publication ban has been issued and as a result, the OPP will not be able to provide further information,” the release reads.

The Grenville County OPP Crime Unit is investigating under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
