Firefighters quickly contain blaze at Brockville homeless encampment

No injuries were reported after a fire broke out at a small homeless encampment in Brockville Wednesday evening.
Brockville police say they received a report of a fire in a field near Stewart Boulevard and Central Avenue at about 6 p.m. on Sept. 24.
Officers attended to assist the Brockville Fire Department, which was already at the scene.
Police say the fire was located at a small homeless encampment and was quickly brought under control by firefighters.
There were no reported injuries, and police described the damage and value of the losses as minimal.
Brockville Police Service Inspector Darryl Boyd credited firefighters with preventing the situation from becoming more serious.
“Their quick response helped prevent the situation from escalating and ensured the safety of those in the area,” Boyd said.
Boyd said the incident also highlights the potential dangers posed by outdoor fires and the importance of promptly reporting emergencies.
