Gananoque is getting ready to trade its usual small-town charm for a little Halloween mischief.

Downtown Gananoque will again become a destination for ghosts, goblins, witches and whatever else happens to come knocking when the fourth annual Spooktacular Trick or Treat event takes over King Street on Oct. 31.

The family-friendly celebration runs from 1 to 3 p.m., rain or shine.

Local businesses along King Street, between Charles Street and the King Street bridge, will be opening their doors and handing out treats to costumed visitors.

And for families looking for more than just a sugar rush, Town Hall Park will be the place to go.

Face painting, games and more treats — courtesy of the Rotary Club of Gananoque, will give youngsters plenty of reasons to stick around after making their way down King Street.

And of course, no Halloween event is complete without costumes, and organizers are encouraging families to bring out their little ghosts, ghouls and goblins and show off their Halloween creations.

There is also a community-minded side to the afternoon.

The Gananoque and Area Food Bank will be on site accepting non-perishable food donations to help support local families.

The event is being presented by downtown Gananoque businesses, the town and community partners.
