Five questions with Cody Nolan, candidate for Brockville council in the 2026 municipal election

Editor’s note: To help voters to be better informed, Brockvilleist will be asking the same five questions of all council candidates in advance of the municipal election, which will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. Questions were sent to all candidates on Sept. 4, 2026. We will publish their responses as we receive them. Below are the responses from candidate Cody Nolan. You can view a full roundup of all our Brockville municipal coverage here.
1. Tell us a little bit about your professional background, including any prior municipal or other political participation, as well as about you, personally. What made you want to run for council?
My name is Cody Nolan, I was born in our local hospital , grew up in the country outside Mallorytown and am currently living at my home in Brockville. I am a restaurant professional and own Vibe Hair Loft on Perth Street with my wife. I’m running for council as I believe this city needs a bit of vision, a bit of drive and some common sense to grow and become an amazing place for all of our children to grow and want to stay.
2. How would you describe your personal political ideology and/or affiliation?
I’ve always said that I’m fiscally conservative while being socially liberal. I’m right down the middle. We need to stay fiscally minded well also supporting groups that may need our help.
3. What are the three most common issues voters bring up to you as you campaign?
Well I’d say the three most common issues are wasteful spending, lack of infrastructure or maintenance of existing infrastructure, and the disconnected nature of council to the public.
4. What three issues are most pressing/important to address locally in your opinion?
My main areas will be 1. Continuing to grow tourism; 2.Encouragement of new manufacturing; 3. Reigning in current spending.
5. What do you feel sets you apart from other candidates?
Well, most importantly I am doing this for your kids and my own. I want Brockville to grow and be a place where they can prosper and not have to leave. Independent business, manufacturing jobs and bustling tourism will all lead to better lives for everyone, but especially those younger than us.
