The Brockville Police Service has temporarily suspended its participation in the Crime Stoppers program following a cybersecurity breach involving a third-party platform used to process anonymous tips.

The breach involves Navigate360’s P3 platform, which Crime Stoppers uses to receive and manage tips from the public, according to a police media release on Monday, Oct. 26.

Police say the breach does not affect the Brockville Police Service’s internal technology systems.

Police are working to determine the extent of the breach and assess any potential risks to individuals, confidential information and ongoing investigations.

“The protection of confidential information and public trust is of utmost importance,” stated Chief Mark Noonan in the release. “Any decision regarding future participation will be made only after an assessment of the findings are received and adequate security assurances have been established.”

Until further notice, members of the public are being directed to submit crime tips and public safety information directly to the Brockville Police Service rather than through Crime Stoppers.
